Forensic Entomology
Study of forensically important blow flies, beetles, systematics, phylogenetics
Forensic Entomology is a branch of forensic science that uses insects and other arthropods in criminal investigations to estimate the time since death, known as the Post Mortem Interval. By conducting research in the field of Forensic Entomology in India, I aim to enhance the applicability of this field and assist forensic experts in calculating the PMI of a body using insects as their investigative tools. My research focuses on generating baseline data of forensically important insects from India, which is essential for accurately determining the PMI. Additionally, I am studying the life history patterns of forensically important calliphorids at different temperatures to generate ADD data that will aid in calculating the PMI at different environmental conditions.
